Same same, fill from the highest hole till it over flows then put then put the plug back in.

Don't drain them until you undo the filler plugs.

What's the idea behind this?

so you know you can get oil back in

nothing worse than draining the diff & the fill plug being stuck & having to fill the bloody thing thru the breather.

Ditto on the supercheap oil pump, makes the job twice as quick with 1/10 the mess.
Hardest part about the oils the gear box filler plug, its in a bitch of a position.

Mine has been jammed in for about twelve months and I have to fill through the breather, hard to not overfill and causes constant pressure leaks

Sorry for the digging but does anyone know where to get a metric square adaptor from that fits? My 3/8 drive is too loose and will strip if I force it

I will open my eyes a bit better and have another look. I am guessing they are 10mm?

10mm square, they're not as common as sideways suggests

Ended up visiting 5 shops and the last one was a specialist. Had to buy a whole kit for $99. So with that done have changed the oil in everything bar the rear diff. The nut is rounded so bad :'( will have to find someone with a welder.

Tips on removing a stubborn thread... Spray some WD40 around the thread. Do this multiple times over a period. If its rusted real bad, do this for days. Make sure the tool recess is clean of dirt. If the tool is a tight fit, hammer it into the recess. You can even hammer whilst trying to turn the tool. of course, if its rounded that bad, none of this will help.

Beat ya to it Atari! Just after I posted the pic I dug a little deeper in the tool box. Not sure why I didn't think of it earlier. Was still a PITA to undo. Now, where do I get new plugs?? Can head back to what previous owner has done and it is a OCD thing of mine to fix stuff as I see it.

I still cant believe that someone has done this to the plug..... well, all of the plugs

$45 for the complete set of drain / filler plugs and gaskets from Suzuki.

Post subject:  Re: Fill Gearbox Oil, Jimny

A bit overpriced but it would take you a bit of work to get a set of second hand ones from a wreck. And thats if THEY are worth getting.

Anyone got a link to an ebay sale of the correct removal tool? Does Trade tools sell them?
