if wont go in 4h or 2wd, there is severe grinding noise in neautral. small wine in 4l.
i drove the hole way back home in 4l. the Transfercase was fine when i left home.

You might also have wind-up if there wasn't enough loose ground to allow the wheels to slip (that's not well written, but I hope you get the idea). Wind-up will cause pre-load on the selectors and prevent them from sliding out of gear. To releive the pressure, reverse the car about a metre and try to shift into 2wd. If you've driven home a distance on sealed roads in 4wd, you MIGHT have buggered your case, but if it's still driving, you might be OK.

To release wind-up at home, jack up any one wheel. Then try to select 2wd. If this works, you are unlikely to have done long term damage.

Ive tried driving in reverse, foward, flat ground, up hill, down hill, even on the bitumen.
I drove 60km/h for half an hour home. That was top speed with out going over 4000rpm.

Failing what the other blokes have suggested.. it really really isnt hard to drop it out and open it up to have a look. thats a last resort obviously, but youll get an indication straight away if something is rooted in there.

Are wt maruti transfercase gear set same ratio as wt 1.3l sierra gear set.
Its time to put in a sierra case i think, but all i have is a wt maruti case and wt flanges.

The flanges may be interchangable.

when i put my sierra case in, it was piss easy finding the case but hard finding flanges..... maybe have a look for a newer WT case? since you have the flanges already.
