i have a suzuki stockman 1997 it has the 1 Lt motor all stock transfer case, diff, but running 30 tyres not sure whats the cheapest way to lower the gearing by at lest 50% of low range, it is only a shooting rig and never goes on the road, any help for what diffs center fit from other model that may be lower.

Get some 4.16:1 transfer gears, they have the same high range ratio as you currently have but (iirc) are about 70% lower low range. :)

with your diffs you should also be able to regear using vitara front ring and pinions.
your diffs now should be 4.1:1, you have options of 4.3, 4.6, 4.8, 5.1 and also 4.5 and 5.3 after market gears

He wants at least 50% lower low range. Diff gears won't do that as easily as transfer gears.

No I am using a 1.0L transfer case and Maruti diffs. This gearing may not suit other people, but it suits me so I'm not going to argue about it anymore.

Do the stockmans WT 1997 run the 1lt transfer case as the hand brake runs on the back wheels if you know this car inside out message me your number so I can pick your brains for ideas

Yeah, they run the light switch transfer case.

If you want it really slow you could put 6.5:1 transfer gears in and go to 3.9 or 3.7 diff gears so your high range isn't to shit. :)

Or go 6.5's and make your 4 speed into a 5 speed.

Even if you left your diff gears the same you would only be lowering your high range 8%ish with 6.5's given your stock combination. With 30's on there it will bring high range back to pretty much standard. This way you will have 8 usable gears with 4 being very low. If slower is better 6.5 transfer gears is the way to go, if it turns out it is too slow they won't be hard at all to sell and try the next ratio up.

If you change just the diff gears you will only get at best around 20% lower in both high and low range with vitara r&p's which isn't very low.
