Hi I have a 2012 1.9 diesel ddis grand vitara and do a lot of outback touring and have seen a lot of other big name Fourbies stop due to dirty fuel. I've done research but really don't know what I'm looking for. Denco, terrain tamer, separ, eBay lol etc thoughts? Is it a must for outback travel with diesels or just unlucky? Cheers, Brock |

I have a mate with a Late Hilux. His is built in. He has had to change his filter because of too much water. He does do local and country trips. I'd upgrade it. |

mate it wouldnt be hard to have a remove filter head, buy a filter head and filter from fleetguard filtration (Cummins product) or from any auto store. Just hose it in series between the tank and the primary filter. |

Does the diesel vit have a in tank pump? Might be a bit hard to stick a good filter in if that is the case |

Yes, a lot of common rail diesels are hard to fit auxilliary/aftermarket fuel filters due to the pressures they run, but these are exactly the engines (or the injectors are, more precisely) that require the best fuel quality possible. |

Maybe a water serperator funnel that you put in the fuel filler when fueling up at remote fuel stops... that way your not even letting the water get into your tank... i vaguely remember ron moon banging on about these |

Another option for CRd cars, although far from perfect, is to have a filter between the sub and main tanks and only fill the sub tank at suspect places. Pump fuel from sub to main via filter. |

This was brought to my attention the other day. There is bugger all use fitting a secondary filter unless is filters finer then the original. He was talking around the 2-10 micron filtration on OE filters for some common rails where some after market ones only filter 10-30 microns?? Is this right or does the after market one catch the 'big' shit and lets the OE filter catch the finer stuff and if thats the case, you still get no benifits cause you still need to change both filters often? The coase filter is mainly to get the water out so you can see it. Another product is a water watch. It was on new inventors. It doesn't stop the water cause the flow rate is to high to effectively trap it all. instead it has a buzzer and you stop and purge the line. Bit of a dick around but at least you remove the water from the system. If it stays in the tank it'll turn to alge. |

not sure on the pressure ratings on these but i used to sell them all the time for trucks and older 4wd's, you'd have to check if they are suitable for modern engines but they work really well and the replacement filters are cheap as. 5836B325 Delphi Agglomerator Agglomerators combine the features of the standard Delphi filter with water seperation and retention. They will retain more than 95% of water contained in fuel, and hold up to 150cc in the bowl. Water is collected in the base and can then be drained without dissmantling the unit. |
