well the motor in my vit is destoyed
So im thinking rather then tring to do a engine swap i might as well start with a car with more power to start with
I want to make it more capable off road then my vit
And heaps better on road and be able to tow my camper
Going to change all the things i dont like about the way the vit was set up
Thinking 4door 2.5 auto
Will my diffs and tc bolt in
Thinking 2in body 245/76/16 For road and easy trips as that wat my ute runs so i have spare tires i can use off that for now
Then 33 pit bull rockers for hard trips
Im thinking For suspension
12in Coilover rear
Move link mounts down on the chassis 2in and move the diff mounts up 2in
Sone sort of swaybar
For the front im going to try something different
If i can get it passed
Cut out rear crossmember and drop the entire front setup 3in
Then make new crossmember
I will run 2in springs get it passed then drop in 4in springs
Will need steering shar extension
Hilux cv should work well
And some custom struts
Going to set up the front to use every bit of cv travel
My vit doesnt have much uptravel

Any one know if u can tap a rp steering for hydro assist
A double ended ram would take most the pressure of the weak rack and help turn the Pitbulls
This is going to be body off build
Not scared of cutting will be running roof sliders and stuff so will need to respray anyway
Aiming at king of the hammers style rig here
Something that can play in the rocks then smash it out at high speed

I wouldn't bother keeping ifs unless you want to redesign the whole setup. Diff in middle, longer arms, longer axles etc

The vit can only tow 400kg
The gv has longer cv so more travel
Bigger brakes
Engine swap seems like to much trouble in the vit
I would love to go center diff but it needs to come down 5in to clear sump wich isnt happening with a road regoes car with the new rules

With the GV can get 4" suspension lift easy, just need Front Diff Drop brakets, Sway bar drop brakets, Extended trailing arms (optional) Adjustable Pan Rod, Prop shaft Spacer, and just drop the rear brake line a bit. Body Lift on top of 4inch lift if have ABS wires will need to be recliped to give extra length they have plenty of length on them, Brake lines may need to be extended but can unclip and make new braket up for them to lower the steel lines a bit to give length, and steering arm will need spacer.
Plus front camber bolts may need two each side as i did at that height.

CV's are fine if have diff drop brakets, at 3" at the moment CV Angle is prob only 15degrees with diff drops. Manual locking hubs help alot for city driving and saves a bit of fuel.

Tire size wise with body lift and all can fit in quite large diameter tires but anything over 235 70 R16 will need wheel spacers on front as they do rub on chassy when doing u turns.

Seen 2.5L GVs going around quite cheap from time to time between 4500 and 6500, towing wise there pretty capable

Would go for a 4door LWB They def need a bull bar as standard front they look a bit babyish.

Sounds like a lot more trouble than an engine swap would be - have you spoken to an engineer about increasing the GVM/tow rating on the Vit?

Have you spoken to an engineer about cutting/relocating mounts and an entire cross-member? Sounds ambitious...

well hilux ifs cv's don't last long under a hilux. Id be thinking bigger.
