I went to fit some bigger tyres on my new jimny (225/75/15). I had to take them off as they would have ripped the bar off. How have you guys gone about it? Photos and advice would be good.

cut the front bar up like most Jimny owners have to fit larger tyres

Grab some masking tape and a jig saw. Be careful and it will look pretty stock.

Any suspension lift on your Jimny? I'll assume you've got wide offset rims otherwise 225s shouldn't contact the bumper, rear of the flare yes but not the bumper. Or do you have a ARB bar

Im putting in a 2 inch lift but when i had it on the hoist i lifted it about 2 inches and it was still going to do the same thing.

Yep -13 offset...

Nope- standard front bar.

You started arse-about . Lift first, then tyres.
Your problem is mainly coming from the -13 rims as the arc they follow when steering is different to stock. If you can afford it, go get the lift before you cut, unless you plan to cut anyway then go for it.

I cut my bar for approach angle, not for tyre clearance. I ran my last Jimny with the standard bar, 60mm lift and 235/75R15 for years without any contact with the bar.

Ah, just checked your profile, 2010, so the big low bumper... Cut, cut, cut.
First thing I did with my new one was get rid of that bumper.

I have a 50mm lift kit sitting in the boot which i will be fitting tomorrow. I just tried the tyres yesterday to see if they would clear and they wont... haha.

Yeah I will have to do the chop. Just wanted to see how others have done it with what method etc.

Dont really want to fork out more money for bullbar or anything...

I used an electric hack saw to do mine, works well.
