Looking at upgrading my suspension on my 01 jimny an putting in a full kit, including panhards.

Went to the local 4wd shop to get a few prices and a full 50mm tough dog kit was around $1300, with the Ironman being a couple hundred bucks cheaper. Obviously going to be cheaper online /eBay though, and I got the tough dog in mind at the moment..

Just wondering people's thoughts on these brands, and if their are any better/cheaper brands out there, e.g koni, rancho, black diamond etc.

cheers!

Not trying to be rude, but there is a thread that would have been in the top 4 lines when you started this one about fitting bigger tyres that contains some of the info you ar after. A search would provide the rest.

Perhaps go have a chat to Uncle Google.

Edit: I just checked and the big tyre one wasn't the one I was thinking of, it was the thread started 3 days ago on page 2.

ok thanks for the help but does it ask the same question regarding brands and prices?? It doesn't really answer any of my questions, and I'm not going to jack a thread just so I can get some info..

Googling is fair enough, but it defeats the point of a forum really. I want the latest advice (not 5 year old advice) from this forum, the forum of my choice (y) :)

TD shocks are the worst!

My commo shocks are pretty good in the front and I'm about to put HiLux ones in the rear.

Td don't make a 50mm lift. It's either 40, 60 or 80mm for tough dog.
I run 80mm td coils with jimnybits es1000 shocks. Ride is good and flexes enough.

I swapped to TD 80mm coils a few months back because people had said they are firmer, and I wanted better on-road handling. They are firmer than what I was running but not like people had said. I think it's just the TD shocks that firm the ride too much.

I'm running Rancho shocks and I find the combination pretty good. Huge shaft in the Ranchos bud the body of the shock is a little bit too large for a Jimny (Rubs slightly on the coils at the rear.
