Hi Folks,

Does anyone know what the temperatures are that switch the sensors on a G16B Vitara Engine?

I have a dead G16B sitting around and I was thinking of stealing one of the sensors from to use as a switch for my Automatic Gearbox Thermo Fan (i.e. plumb the sensor into my cooler lines).

I'm hoping to end up with something in the 90 - 110 degrees range.

Are they simply an on/off switch?

Noob fail :D

Have a look in my build thread Greg, There's a list of all the tridon part numbers and their switching temps.

The swift G16B fans switch at about 95ish from memory. That's what I'm using and the fans come on at exactly 1/2 on the engine water temp gauge,

I also have a carby G13 swift temp sensor and it comes on at about 85 and off at something stupid like 75. It hardly shows any temp on the gauge at all before the fans come on.

Also, bear in mind they generally have massive metric threads (M14-M22, as an example) so you'll need to make a trick little adapter with a steel tee and a welded nut or something to make it work. That's what I did, but that's a lot easier for a 35mm OD water pipe than it is for an 8mm OD trans line.
