Thinking of chucking in some spring spacers to the Jimny.

Who's fitted them? What do you think and where did you get them?

Pretty much just want to know what the consensus is.

Cheers

Hi JCB

Spring spacers are not the best way to lift a vehicle. They are useful for balancing the front to back height a little but the correct way to lift a vehicle is to fit new springs. If you just fit spacers then you run the risk of fully compressing the spring metal to metal and this will cause damage to the spring. When fitting new springs you also need to normally replace the shock absorbers to provide extra travel. You need to do this if usinf spring spacers anyway.

You cvan get spring spacers from Outdoor Auto in Brisbane and I am pretty sure JimnyBits in the UK sell them as well. Suggest you look at a full suspension upgrade though unless you are really stretched for cash.

^ Much truth there.

If you fit spring spacers it's advisable to space your bumpstops down by the same amount to eliminate the possibility of spring bind.

Cheers Mike and Steve. I have installed new springs and shocks yesterday (50mm Lift) was thinking of getting a little more clearance which is why i was looking at the spacers.

I would of course also get shock spacers.

Ok so as long as the spring wont bind and the shock will not bottom out then it can be OK as a way of adjusting the height. i am actually going to add 10mm to my suspension soon having done the calcs and to make up for the extra weight I have added to the car.
