Hmm, I pulled the timing cover off my Maruti 1ltr when I first got it, it was a while ago but I think it had a little dot on the gears and on the backing plate there was an arrow head one at the top of the crank gear and one at the bottom of the cam gear. I do remember that the crank one was a bit hard to find. |

Timing belt marks are as jackson described. But they can be very hard to see. They are pretty much in a straight line from centtelines of crank to cam. Scratch it up a bit with a bit with some sandpaper. The mark your looking for is an arrow. |
