will you get any benefit by removing the catalytic converter and replacing it with straight through pipe?

current thread on the same topic here  viewtopic.php?f=5&t=36796

i've heard of ricers making up a de-cat pipe & that's just a piece of exhaust pipe the same diameter as the exhaust welded into the cat after punching the guts out of it so at least it looks like your running a cat if you ever get pulled up

This would be what I would do, if I had to.

But replacing the cat would be the priority, once the reason for the cooked cat is fixed.
