Ihave a 99 jimny and it takes about 30 mins on a hot day for the A/C to start to get pretty cool, is this normal ? |

No. Go and get it regassed. Also check there's no blockage in the condensor and the electric fan is working |

30 min, I would set my car on fire if the AC took that long to work. My cars know that it isn't a idle threat either |

lol...ok, I can't really stand the heat and if it could freeze me I would really like it, the fan works, how do I check for a blockage in the evaporator ? |

Have a look through it from the front, you may need a torch. I'm talking about grass seeds and mud blocking air flow through it |

ok, I hsve no idea where the eveaporator is located, not really knowledgable about any of the a/c |

yeah get it regassed, with proper r134a and a dye, a proper AC tech should give you a good idea on the state of the system when he does it |

and you can pressurize the system with the right fittings before you re-gas it to check for leaks etc |

Check your a/c belt is tight too. But along with everyone else, go and get it regassed and leak checked. Should be done every twelve months (even though I've never done either of my cars) |

Also note an A/c service might cost a lil more now due to the Rize in price of r134a gas (about a 300% increase) |
