not legal, if you want the offset do it in the wheel, especially if you only have steel rims the cost of new offset steel rims wouldnt be too much more would it? |

I'm running 40mm spacers on my NT diffs and the difference is remarkable. On road and off, so so so much more stable. Sure Its illegal, I choose to run the risk. Yes I'd like to get the width using WT diffs instead, but out of the budget for the foreseeable future. Don't think you can buy an off the shelf rim with that much offset, and if you can it too would be illegal (although not as noticeable) On 30" tyres I get no adverse scrubbing (only just though), and I haven't had any issues yet with shortened wheel bearing life. They are a cheap, easy, worthwhile mod. Especially for off-road use. |

Tell us what you have now. Are you running stock rims? What width spacers are you considering? Why are you considering wheel spacers? Do you have a need for more width? |

Yeah I was looking at my options too, I think offset rims are the way to go though heard wheel spacers can come in done Btw oz I think u can get off set sunnies for about 65 each |

I asked this exact question to TyrePower and i was told no matter what it won't be legal, as larger offset rims meant larger tyres. Was this true? |

Fatzook wrote: Zook_Fan wrote: Do you have a need for more width? is that a rhetorical question? Everyone needs more width. Width = stability. That's like saying everyone has the need for lift. Lift = clearance. But we all know there is a point that lift isn't beneficial any more. My car is pretty wide for a WT sierra due to the rims I have on it and it has effectively 10mm spacer in the rear with the floater kit and 10mm in the front to stop the rim from touching the TSOR steering arms. I do not want the car any wider. As it is I am very close to the wheel track of much larger vehicles and I'd rather keep at least one wheel out of the rut. If I wasn't in comps I'd want it narrower again, for the same reason. Standard width patrols destroy our local tracks and I'm not running the same size tyres as the patrols, and I'm guessing the OP won't either if their profile is correct saying they have a coily. Getting away from what I was getting at though. I meant is there a specific reason the OP wanted the car wider. Was it for a bit more stability or was it for getting the car to a specific width to fit on a trailer, etc. |

Dec wrote: I asked this exact question to TyrePower and i was told no matter what it won't be legal, as larger offset rims meant larger tyres. Was this true? In QLD, an increase in track up to 50mm is legal when done with deeper offset rims. Wheel spacers are illegal - full stop and are easily noticed by the law enforcers! Why do rims with a deeper offset necessarily mean a larger tyre? The rim doesn't necessarily have to be wider to have a deeper offset. I'm guessing the OP won't either if their profile is correct saying they have a coily. With a coily - due to the wider axles a deeper offset rim will run into problems with tyres fouling on the flares with less offset than a leafy would with the same tyre/rim combination. |

Dec wrote: I asked this exact question to TyrePower and i was told no matter what it won't be legal, as larger offset rims meant larger tyres. Was this true? change tyre shops ASAP, where do they get these numpty tyre fitters from. offset only changes where the wheel sits in relation to the hub/wheel mating surface (WMS)... eg. -15 offset means the rim will poke 15mm more out of the guards compared to a 0 offset, rim width or size doesn't change with offset. |

So more than -15 will hit the guards... Where will it hit? Thanks mate |

what offset / tyre size are some GV's running? Had 235 75 R16 that did fit with room to spare just rubbed a bit on full right lock. Im not looking at doing a body lift as would be a fair bit of work on the XL, so max tyre size for say 3 inch lift. also what offset is the GV's running standard? |
