Post subject:  what do they check for a blue slip in nsw
So i have a 91 sierra, which requires a blue slip for rego.

i sort of know what they look for, things like, pedal rubbers, body lift (which i have to remove) tire condition and brake performance.

but, what else do they usually look for?

the zook has a momo sports steering wheel, complete with boss kit and working horn, though its in bad condition, do they pass these? replace with another sports wheel? or put factory one on?

do they check for rust? what sort? how much rust is ok?

any advice is very appreciated

A couple of hunded items are on the list.
bushes, rod ends, fluids leaks, rust, tires, electrical, seatbelts, windows, door handles, suspension. Depending on how harsh the mechanic is the steering wheel shouldn't pass.

When my mate got his 80 engineered they had the steering wheel down, so i would think it wouldnt pass but im not 100%

I just had mine blue slipped with a Momo Steering wheel. Not a problem.

Just sort out your wheel/king pin bearings, oil leaks, steering play and uni's. Other than that its just lights, blinkers etc...

Up here it is normal road worthy with numbers - Engine, chassis, Vin Etc.

Cants motor repairs @ maitland , are usually pretty fair on blue slips

Thats what the RMS site said the last time I looked it up.
almost the same as a regular road worthy except they're more thorough when checking the identification of the car.

oh well - im only speaking from my experiences- ive had 3 cars passed with out any drama's
lets us now how you get on - and welcome to local suzuki network
