Since petrol is getting quite cheap now I'm starting to think about using premium petrol again.

Can the J20A ecu advance the timing if using premium petrol, or does it have to be advanced manually?

Mmmmmm J20.... 8)

I don't know how the management on these things works exaclty, but unless it has a knock sensor I can't see the ECU changing the ignition timing outside the maps programmed into it's memory. My guess would be that you'd have to advance the timing manually.

You'll probably find the timing can't be adjusted. It will run better on premium though, and you'll get better economy too.
