Hi everyone, My Sierra has a G16A conversion, I noticed today it is leaking fuel from this part in the pics below, the part is attached to the inlet manifold with 2 bolts and also has a vacuum hose coming off it, at first I thought it was probably a gasket problem so I took it off and put some gasket goo on and all was good for a 2 hour drive today but after parking the car I have noticed fuel is dripping from the same spot again, its only fairly minor and seems to mainly drip when you first turn the vehicle on and again when you turn it off. You can see on the pic below where it is dripping onto the black hose below it. |

Exhaust gas recirculation valve. I don't know where the fuel would be coming from. Is your carby leaking into the manifold and the fuel running through the manifold to the EGRV? Download a service manual from here: http://www.suzukiinfo.com |

If your carbon cannister is faulty, the pressure build up in fuel tank can push fuel out when parked in the sun, especially with a full tank. Outside chance, but worth a check. |

hmm I'm not sure where the fuel is coming from, the car is also idling a bit rough and going through a ton of fuel so it may be leaking out from the carby, is there an easy way I can check? this is the first carby car I've owned so I'm not very familiar with them. Carbon canister idea could also be a go but I noticed it does it even with the car sitting in the shade in the garage so not sure, I'll read through the service manual and see if it suggests how too check the canister. thanks for your advice guys |

Just remove the EGR completely and block everything off... problem solved. |

Scrawn wrote: Just remove the EGR completely and block everything off... problem solved. wouldn't that mean the original problem causing fuel to leak into the inlet manifold is still there though? |

It may just be the valve stuck open, causing fuel to be drawn into the valve assembly. The EGR system isn't essential for operation in these motors so blocking it off won't adversely effect it. If it turns out the carby is dribbling then it'll just dribble into the motor instead |

How can fuel be being drawn into the egr valve assembly unless there is fuel puddling in the manifold? There's no connection between the fuel system and EGR. I'd say the carb is leaking and fuel is sitting in the manifold and running out the EGR valve. Steve. |

Do I need to remove the carb to see where it could be leaking into the inlet? Would it be a major problem or just something like a gasket? cheers |

No idea really, I don't do carb. Just pointing out it's not related to the EGR except that's where the fuel is ending up. Steve. |

No worries, as the car seems to be running very rich does anyone know if it is possible that unburnt fuel from the carby is making its way into the inlet manifold? |

It's probably got a needle that's not seating properly in the float bowl or the level incorrectly set. |

I'd say that's exactly what's happening - unmetered fuel is pouring into the motor. as I said I can't help much with carby troubleshooting - scrawn looks to be offering some solutions though. Steve. |

Thanks guys, I might have to put it into a mechanic and get them to play around with the carb I don't want to make the problem worse as I don't know what I'm doing. |
