Hey guys,

Just wondering if anyone could tell me if a transfer case from an SE LWB Vit will bolt up to an SV620 5-speed?

Would there be any other dramas transfering my good stuff from the SE to an SV:
Calmini kit - diff drop brackets need modding, otherwise the steel GV airlocked diff should be fine?

5:12s from the rear diff and HD axles - swap the centre and axles straight across? Swap the whole diff straight across? (rear discs as well.)
(not sure on track widths, according to this list (pg 161) it's 60mm front, 50mm rear.
I'm running +10 XL7 rims instead of +25 stockies, so that should come close to equalising?)

Springs/shocks/struts straight swap?

Seat mounts the same?

Drawers - is the boot the same size?

Roof stuff is easy, everything else is pretty much plug n play...



I'm tempted by this:

Gives me low km 2L V6 powah, comes with some stuff. Add all my good stuff and I could stop fantasising about engine conversions that I can't afford. I could then part out what's left of mine (G16B with new head, extractors, 2" exhaust, good gearbox, body lift, 2L front brakes, new windscreen, new rear glass...) plus unused 2L stuff (diffs, axles, suspension, seats, rims) and hopefully not end up spending all that much.

Am I missing anything?

Transfer with gears will bolt up
Diff gears airlocker etc will bolt up
Calmini rear axles will be too short
Rear draws will go straight in, the bodys are the same it's just the flares make them wider

I reckon get it and wack I a 2.7 later on pompoms

What about swapping the whole rear diff? Saves me changing centre and disc conversion over (don't even know if I could...?) and I keep the axles. Track width difference is only 50mm, so 25mm each side, 15 of that is cancelled out by offset (the 2L were +25 stock weren't they?) so 10mm net difference? Spring and shock mounts would be OK?

I'm getting a little excited about the possibility... if I do a complete diff swap could I get away with calling it the SVEgon? Blagon's swedish cousin? :lol:

But your track width will still be wider on the front when running the same rims ......

Most likely you will have to move all the mounts on the diff

would be like ajsr's new shitbarge with the NT rear 8)

rear mounts should be the same, the SV has the larger drums + extra width & your disk kit wont fit the SV

Hmmm, shame. 25mm a side, over the 375ish mm of compressed shock length, and potential for coil bind - I'd rather not.

Oh well, worst case scenario I flog the disc kit and axles off, I'd like to disc the SV too, but the HD axles were just a convenient buy, I'd never had or heard about anyone else having problems with stockies.

The 5:12 centre will just bolt straight across won't it?

Gus, can I trouble you for pics of your adapted diff drop brackets?

Mitch, if you want the engine and box (and transfer out of the 2L if you want it) that goes a fair way to recouping some of the purchase price... you have a PM.

That's exactly the motivation... minus the girly gearbox :lol:

Down the track an H27 will go into the wider chassis easier too :twisted:

Haha keep the 2 extra trannys, ill give you another 2, and you give me Tranny with the Gears in :thefinger:

OK, so I'm pretty sure I'll be going ahead with this - Brendan is pretty keen to get rid of the car, and if I can get a bargain and help him out then that's a double win.

I have to work out how to get the car from Melbourne to Sydney, and then find a space to pull the cars to bits.

So the plan for engineering is:
1997 LWB V6 Vitara
    Calmini 3” lift kit, including front and rear control arms, adapted diff drop brackets, custom lower rear control arms
    SE stock swaybar
    Suspension replaced with Old Man Emu extended struts, Dobinson GV front coils, Tough Dog GV rear coils and Rancho shocks (current setup from the old car)
    Extended bump-stops
    2” BYE Products Body Lift
    4.24:1 low range transfer reduction gears
    5.12:1 diff gears from old car
    Steel front diff housing from V6 GV with ARB air locker
    RHS CV conversion
    Hilux CV conversion
    Rear disc brake conversion
    16x7 steel rims, @ custom offset -15 – daily I’ll run the 16x7 XL7 Alloys @ +10
    33x10.5R16 or similar MT tyres – daily I’ll probably run 235/75 ATs.
    Speedo correction box, flares to cover tyres.
    WRX STi seats

Then:
    ECB Bullbar, Aldi 12000lb winch with in cab control, Dyneema rope
    Snorkel
    Cruise Control
    Uniden remote face UHF
    Dual Batteries with in cab monitor/bridge
    Rear Drawers with fridge slide
    Steps/Sliders
    Rola Vortex basket on Rola racks
    ARB awning
    LED 40" on roof, 20" on bar, HID spots on bar
    LED worklights wired as reverse lights
    Halogen roof lights, LED rock lights
    LED interior lights
    MP3 iPod head unit, upgraded speakers

I think that about covers it... for a start! Tyre diameter will increase about 100mm, track should increase around 45mm, wheelbase around 100mm in offroad trim.

Overall should be a much stronger, more stable, more capable car.

Another thought.
Get it stored close to Melbourne Airport, maybe we have AZers close to Airport.
Then fly down when you are ready and drive it back?
