Can anyone tell me about a 50mm body lift in a 1990 sierra. I want to find out if i can go ahead with putting it straight in without having to move any of the handrake, gear sticks, or anything like that??

Cheers

Hi Gav, Yes it's pretty simple. Some gear and transfer stick may just touch the tunnel or be pushed out of gear by the boot but these are very simple fixes that don't take much to correct. Well within the capability of the average person if they take their time, think about the issue and most importantly read the instructions that come with the various kits. There are a couple of little tricks to make it a whole lot easier if you read the instructions prior to doing the job. Saves a lot of frustration.

Alright no worries, so pretty straight forward then?
I'll give it a go and see how it turns out. Just that I've helped fit them before in a couple Ford couriers and a couple rodeos and there a pain because of the handbrake cable, gear sticks and the radiator too, I didn't really feel like pissin around with that Shit again haha, but anyway thanks heaps for that mate, I appreciate it :)

The radiator doesn't move - it's attached to the chassis in a sierra.

You'll need to adjust the fuel filler hose and gearlever boots as just_cruzin has pointed out. Handbrake will be fine. Watch out for the heater hoses and the earth between the body and the distrubutor when you lift the body.

Don't run into my vehicle. My insurance company will sue your insurance voided ass. :rambo:

Is it that hard to get a mod plate? I mean it's not like it even has to go to Qld Transport for a detailed inspection anymore for approval!

Yepppppp, ill let you waste your money on insurance to fix a scratch mate ;) lol.

Nah its not that hard for the plate but there going a bit over the top for things now, soon enough you'll have to get a mod plate for fitting a snorkel or repairing a panel haha, government for ya.

Over the top now? If anything QLD laws are more logical now than they have been in years. The fact that you can just get a blue plate for a body lift is evidence of that.

+1 at least you have the mod plate option, SA still has retarded engineering laws & even then a cop can still defect you on suspicion that it could be unroadworthy.

It might pay to chill out a little, as suggested. Steve likes to ban people after a few Friday drinks

Not gonna do anything dodgy mate, no one said anything about that, mod plates for things like that i dont really believe in, engine conversions and things like that yeah fair enough, but if its done right, (not slapped together with some old bolts and nuts and whatever you can find) there should be no worries. i do stuff properly scrawn and atari, im picky so if its not right ill do it again, if i get done, i get done hey haha.
I got nothing against anyone on here, i was just asking some questions and getting oppinions and what the process was in doing it, but when theres a smart ass like reubs who joins in and starts saying this and that, dont tell me what i gotta do and how to modify my car, worry about your own and your own problems.
Sorry boys for gettin narky but i dont like smart ass's.

Thats fair enough mate, i mean no harm either but it pisses me off when someone starts telling me how to run my life and how to work on my cars as it does with everyone mate. Especially when they gotta be a smart ass about it.
People ask questions and expect answers, like you said its a community of the same interest, help one another out.

Fuck off you useless dumbfuck high horse troll, everyone bables on about oooo this place used to be so nice and such a great community and now its all shit, this post is exactly why its shit, nobody gives a fuck about your insurance or your opinion, its got nothing to do with the subject at hand and you’ve done an absolute shit job at trying to get your shit opinion in on it.

Whats a bodylift going to matter then?

So if they cant find the driver cause they have done a runner, whats insurance matter for then? You make less than no sense and are obviously trying to be a keyboard hero and a failing, massivley

atari4x4 wrote:

Insurance is going to need to prove the bodylift was cause of the accident, not any other factor like the BMW braking heavily, following too closely to said BMW, etc etc

Did you have approval for the 3” mess in yours? Glass Houses etc etc

Cant you lot just understand the concept of if you cant accurately and concisely help out with the thread (Ok so Gwagon is exempt from the concise bit) just shut the fuck up and look on from the side?

Do we have to start modding like Whirlpool (and the Police force with defects) if its even remotely suss delete first and ask questions never?

If you're doing it right why not just finish it by getting it plated? Not being a smart arse here, just genuinely curious

Yeah its not and he got the answer he needed but then we've gotta have a tough guy start up with some opinionated crap that serves no purpose and it ends up a stacks on thread, a new guy goes screw this place and never comes back while badmouthing the place to anybody that will listen which then carries on and one day somebody with an AZ sticker doesn't get some help in the bush cause they all think he must be an ass.

Meanwhile 3 more lurkers go bugger signing up and asking stuff if thats what ill get and wander off to the shops and get sold a bunch of useless crap by some scummy salesman

I am probably at the top of the list of people that wouldn't shed a tear if this place crashed and burned, but if its going to be on, we may as well try and be nice.

Havent put it in yet mate, thats why i posted the thread and to ask what the process was and its turned out like this.
No need for the name calling either "useless dumbfuck troll" how would you know, you dont even know me, what i do, and how i do things. Just because yous are all mates on here doesnt mean you can all just put your words together and spit them at me because you dont know me from a bar a soap. I was asking a question mate, just because i dont want to get a mod plate, thats got nothing to do with any of you lot, between me and my insurance company. I know the rules and how it all works, i been there before mate and its my choice for the things i want to do. Thanks for the advice anyway, i apprieciate all your comments

I choose not to scrawn, at the end of the day its just a suzuki sierra that will spend most of its time in the bush where animals dont have insurance or cars and if you hit something, you fix it, thats the fun part of modifying cars, you have to eventually fix them.

And royce, i dont see whos being the tough guy? Im guessing your aiming that at me??
You dont know me well enough to think that ill turn everyone against this site, that'll be just a dog act mate and i wouldnt do that.
I believe most of you would try and be nice but there is the ones who like to be smart. I dont have anything against anyone like i said, but no need for the smart comments, read it and think about it, or even read through the lot and get a better understanding before you quickly post up your thoughts.
I appologize to you all.
