Hi everyone. I have a problem with my jimny. It ussually stalls alot when im doing a 4x4 trail,and i think its just because of the fact that there is minimum torque on the low rpm range and due to the face that I need to proceed over a obstackle at very slow speeds and therefore I dont depress the accelorator alot. This is ussualy just a problem on rocky sections when low rpm torque is needed or at some inclines where the accelorator is slightly released to minimize wheelspin so that traction can be found again. I think if the car gets reved more then my foot wil be alot more on the clutch trying to control the speed over the obstacle. This might sound foolish but any inputs will be appreciated. My thoughts. The jimny's engine peak torque is at 4000 rpm and the peak power at 6000 rpm. More power? -remove cat? -chip? Righer fuel air mixture? Back to standard tires? Some motorsport custom cars believe to have a smaller fuel tank where the fuel gets pumped in first from the large fuel tank before it gets pumped to the engine, will this help ensuring that the fuel supply to the engine be more instant in cases where the car ussualy stalled? Other option to gain more power. From motorsport some believe coolling the petrol before it reach the engine will add more power, dencer fuel!? Or something like that. Change driving style? Thank you |

A few more details what tyre size are you running have you made any changes to the gearing to compensate for the larger tyres, and try to stay off the clucth its either in or out |

Jup clutch was completly out, ussualy when we are driving over large rocks where your wheel have to climb onto a rock.then its impossible to keep my foot of the clutch coz the speed will be too fast, and you really need to rev the engine then, running a standard suzuki jimny 2009 vvt model with standard suspention, with 215 75 r15 bf goodrich all terrains, custom made bumper with a 6500lb t max winch in front, aswell as a african outback roofrack, will post a video with a link to show the scenario. |

^^ what he said... the stock gearing is pretty tall, and adding larger tyres makes it way worse. if you find you're always slipping the clutch to go slower and keep revs up, you need reduction gearing. its worth figuring out if you're going to be going with larger tyres soon though, as gearing isnt the cheapest thing to do, so you want to get it right the first time =) |

Lol, one question ? Will the new gearing also sort out the issue of the lack of torque at low rpms? Or is that a engine problem and not a gear problem? Also, i was looking to just fit a 410 box, or what would be the best bet, to keep everything else pretty standard. I assume there is no hope to change the gears in the current transferbox but rather fit a new casing and everything? Please help me

it depends what you call a lack of torque and how low, low rpms are? offroad in low range first gear (i have reduction gears) i sit around 2500-3000rpm most of the time, when crawling REALLLLY slow over stuff i still try to rev it around 1500-2000, but my gearing is slow enough that i can do that. as you said, jimny peak torque is over 3000rpm, so you're not going to get much at all under say 2000rpm. you are using low range right? |

Jup am using lowrange, can you tell me about your reduction gear setup, at like you said with my current setup i need to nev over 2000rpm close to 3000 to let my wheel climb on some rocks and then it put alot of strain on the clutch coz im depressing it trying to control the speed when "crawling" over rocks |

mines a sierra, so gearing was as easy as chucking different tcase gears in... do a search for "jimny reduction" - there's tons of tech on it, and different ways of doing it. |

And stay off the clutch. If you glaze it by getting it excessively hot, you might not be able to drive home. When driving off road, the clutch should be off or on, not feathered to maintain control. If you are mostly interested in rocky driving you might have been better with an automatic gearbox, but having reduction gearing will help a lot. You can fear your existing case with APIO or Trialjimny gears (both can be combined) or swap to an sj410 case with a 4wd light switch, or an sj413 case using a fitting kit. Steve |

Can you refer me to some link for gears for my current transfer case like APIO and trailjimny,that will be a reasonable upgrade thank you I really need to do something to change my jimny's offroad performance.

Finding an alternative suzuki transferbox might be extremely difficult here in south africa coz alot of them are still on the road and there parts are very hard to come by. |

excuse my ignorance but all this talk of different sierra designations is confusing me. so if i was to do a transfer swap i would need a WT transfer case plus the kit? |

hey guys, I got a email from trail jimny, Is it possible that someone can please explain how the persentage ratios are compared to the normal gear ratios as stated in suzuki spesifications.
