Will 6100 pound synthetic rope be strong enough for a sierra? I have a long range tank,32's and a bar and winch(obviously). I can get it at a really good price but I am unsure if it will hold up in a heavy recovery. I'm not going to be trying to pull out anything heavier than my sierra. Thanks. Donny. |

What is the minimum strength you would recommend? |

8k? More? I'd want a decent safety factor, really to allow for loss of strength due to splices, scuffs etc. Steve |

it depends on the strength of your winch |

The blue rope that comes on winches is in the 15000 > 20000 pound range, so 6000 is a lot less. And its pretty cheap regardless :S. |

Sounds about right. 40m x 10mm is a lot of rope You can't go 20/30m + a winch extension strap?... which probably won't be any cheaper. If I had to buy just rope I would ebay it up, others probably have their own favourite shops. Do any of the sellers on the forum here sell it?, its not on Danks site |

You will fit aprox 50m of 10mm rope onto a high mount winch. How much $ can you get the 6100 lb string for? |

Under $100 delivered! I want to fill the highmount right up, it's got cable on it at the moment and its only about 30m as its really thick cable! |

Winch rope rated less than winch= fail. What's the worst thing that could happen if your rope fails? Steve |

I'd rather the winch stall out long before the rope breaks. I ran with the ebay dyneema, 40m of 12mm and it only cost a bit over $100 and it held up to some very, very hard winching however I'm about to replace it purely because I don't trust the quality. I'd use it every day on a DD or toy where recovery is straight pulls or relatively easy hills but when stuff starts to get steep and you're relying on the winch and nothing else you need to be able to trust it with your car and potentially your life. Steve beat me to it.. |

I've seen tampon string break more offten than any other recovery equipment so I'd be going the heaviest gauge I could get and remember you get what you pay for. Your winch takes over where your car can't, so think about the work it has to do. |

I bought dyneema rope of ebay, 10mm x 30 meters. was a greatly priced too and I dunno what all the fluff is about. Its Sk75 which is the 12 strand, that's what you need to be looking for mate. If its not SK75 I wouldn't touch it. |
