Hi guys,

I'm after some ideas on which power steering setup to run on my Sierra. It is a LWB Sierra, will have a chassis extension with RUF. Running 34" LTBs. Will be swapping in a 1600 Vitara motor and 4 speed auto at a later date, but like to put the power steering in now with the 1.3. Has anyone run / have any preference for the following;

Ben T Vitara Power Steering - using Vitara steering box

Calmini Power Steering Kit - using Vitara steering box

Rocky Road Power Steering - using Toyota Corona steering box

Trail Tough Power Steering - using Vitara steering box

Cheers,
Danny

wouldn't all the US gear be for a LHD samurai rather than a RHD sierra, not really upto speed with the sierra's but i know the calmini vitara steering stuff doesn't transfer over to RHD.

That's why I'm checking with the Auszookers gurus - to see what works the best ...

Genuine Sierra powersteer works best.
Followed closely by Jimny
then Vitara with wedge kit
then Cressida, LHD lux etc etc etc.

Are you saying that the sierra steer works the best, or that its the easiest to fit?

Surely the Sierra would be like the rest of Sierra stuff ... fine for standard tyres etc, but not the best for 34s +

wouldnt imagine the jimny one would be any better since its designed for a car almost the same size/weight and same tyre size as a sierra.

Bit of both Pete. :D
Definitely easiest to fit, bolts straight on.
It worked great for me with 33's, can't see 34's being any worse but horses for courses, Sierra PS is good for a modded Sierra but everything has its limits.

I ran Vitara power steering box for many years with my Sierra on 31's.
It was brilliant for my needs,
which was everything from daily driving to extreme hard core,
and very reliable.
