Post subject:  Hybrid Vitara front diff housing ???

I require some info on the vit front diff and a sierra diff from those that will know a lot more than I do.
I have searched and it looks like a vit crown and pinion will fit in the sierra diff centre, so will a sierra centre fit in a vit housing and will the vit diff assemble fit the sierra centre.
The reason I ask this is because I require a replacement steel front diff and I have found them to be like rocking horse poo to find but I have found a steel housing at the right price.
I realise that the sierra centre will not have the mounting lug for the cross member on it but I can get one made up like this one http://www.srcustoms.ca/index.php?page= ... &Itemid=56
Or I could have a go at making a replacement diff like this one well maybe with a lot of help as I cant weld sssssshhhhh and don’t have the tools.http://bbs.zuwharrie.com/content?topic=100689.20
All input and ideas will greatly be appreciated.

Terminology differs from everyone.
Depends what you mean by centre.

The sierra diff housing/3rd member will bolt into the Vitara front axle housing.
One problem is, that the Sierra diff housing hangs lower, so you have to shave and reweld the diff,
or modify the Vitaras front crossmember.
Another is, you need to use the Vits bearing carrier, or the Vitaras driver side axle won't fit .
Many have done these things, but I chose to go steel GV diff and axle housing.
