first off sorry to answer a question that probably has been asked a heap of times but no clear answer found upon searching and want to organise engines asap.so info is massively appreciated!

my 1.3 bottom end is stuffed.
the head is good and will be getting checked over/reconditioned.

is it worth putting my 1.3 8v head on a 1.6 8v carby BALENO bottom end? are these the same bottom end as vitara?
any real gains to be had?

is it true that compression is raised and for the torque/power gains is it worth it

I was thinking of doing the same thing myself , but to save on the wiring and injection issues I only want the capacity increase not the hassles of changing wiring and fuel systems
can get a baleno block with 44km for $550 and use my reco head

hey mate you will find that everyone has a different opinion about this modification there's a few guys on here who have done this mines not ran in yet so im under 3 thousand revs still and you can feel the massive difference to my mates 1.3 plus the 1.3 head makes the motor have a bit more low down power! if your not looking for more then i advise a mid range cam but id stick with normal at first some people will say the compression is too different but i i chose to do a little bit of exhaust porting and some extractors and it will breathe better and ultimately help. and the wirings just the same if your using same head you just need to get the adaptor plate etc. well that's my two bob's worth check out my build so far if you like dunno if it will help but it might oh and make sure you get the right block i cant remember what mine is but i think you have to have g16A but not positive what mine is someone willl know that part

yeah you need to use a g16a 8 valve bottom end if you want to use a 1.3 8 valve head baleno motors are 16 valve
