hey guys i have had a bit of trouble with my transfer not having 4wd and not having a gear when the leaver is in the 2wd position so i decided to take it out i pulled it apart and had a good look around couldn't see anything wrong so i put it back together to find i have 2wd low range, 2wd high range, 4wd high range and 4wd low range has this ever happened to anyone? i have attached a picture of how the config is now

Someone has removed the shift detent ball from your transfer.

Some say 2lo is a great option but I only EVER used it once to prove it worked.

So is it that simple to get 2WD low range in a Sierra transfer? If you had an auto locker in the front it would be really handy!

It's actually really handy when your like going down a tight trail when you just want to cruise it a little bit faster than 4wd low I usr 2wd low second gear its great hahaha

If you are in low you are in low. 2 or 4wd doesn't make any ratio/speed difference.

Well the 2wd low seems to be a bit faster that 4wd low but its probably just me hahaha

It's definitely the same. There's only two available ratios.

With the interlock detent ball removed it is possible for the transfer to pop onto neutral when it's in 2wd high. This is annoying at best, dangerous at worst. I found this out because I pulled the interlock detent in anticipation of twin sticks. When I rebuilt the transfer, I fitted a trail tough "twisted T" shifter in my car that gives me 2WD low. It retains the interlock detent ball, and works well, but the pattern gets confusing.

Something to be aware of

Steve.
