G'day, was offered a spartan locker today at a very reasonable price fitted by a mate who purchased 1 too many.

What i'm wanting to know is what they are like?
Am i going to be replacing my tyres regularly?

It's to go into my rear of my SJ80 coily.

Any info would be appreciated.

Hi mate, thanks i had a read through that before but still didn't give me the confidence to purchase one.

I run an autolocker in the rear of my sierra (for 70k km).
I still get more wear on front tyres (from steering and braking etc)
It works fine on the road, I go through a lot of roundabouts on my sierra, and its fine.
Biggest issue is carparks, but its tolerable.

As I was planning on going twin locked, I bought a spartan to put into the front.
Now Im going modified vit rear diff, Ill get an autolocker in the rear, and either use my old autolocker upfront, or try the spartan.

I haven't shimmed my locker, or serviced it etc since. Just changed the diff oil.

I love my Spartan in the front.
(Trouble free for around 2 years)
I have lock rite rear,
love that too, but will get it a Spartan if it ever fails.
(Trouble free for 5 years so far)

Locked both front and rear by the previous owner and i don't find it too difficult to drive

When you're coming to a roundabout and you're half way through..... if the car starts jumping/jerking forward then press the clutch slightly....this will unlock the locker and then simply drive away/accelerate

Value for money you can't beat them and sierra's are so light that you shouldn't have too many problems with tyre wear

I would never have another sierra without a locker/s
