My Pick for ATR are 1 Pirelli Scoprion ATR 235 70 R16 (Great all round tyre, great in sand, was good on rocky terrain, and good in mud, lasted 80,000K and still had tred) 2 Bridgestone Desert Dueler AT D697 235 70 R16 (great for Rocky terrain, ok in sand, nice comfortable ride, and tyres have lots of flex in them, seem ok in mud.) Or 225 75 R16 |

225/75R16. any wider or bigger and you will have issues with scrubbing. As for tread design it really depends on personal choice. |

I'll second gecko on the duelers. I'm really impressed at this point and they are really reasonably priced. I got mine for 220 each fitted in the 225 70 16's. You mainlanders should be able to get even better than that with the extra competition and opportunity to haggle. |

I had to do firewall side massage for the the 225/75 16's. My vote if you have some money to burn is the goodyear duratracs an aggressive A/T. |

The yokohama was a great tyre esp on sand, but miserable with tread wear got less than 40,000ks on them. The tyres where worn out before my last wheel alignment service  These sound like a joke to me, but seem a decent tyre, people have talked about them but never really say what there like apart from one guy used them for a comp and said they crapped all over his previous MT's  By Pics they do seem to have quite a lot of treed. Things i look for in a tyre is needs to be good offroad but also good on wet tarmac, as there has been quite a few times with the old bridgestone H/T tyres Standard on GV's, that on every wet hill start i would start moving in a cloud of blue smoke,  There 10 Ply Duel Steel Radias Truck tyre with 1215K Load capacity, i gather they may be a little stiff. Can get for $159 a tyre Made in asia somewhere by same company that make Maxis Buckshot tyres? I have sent them a email to see how well they handle wet tarmac and also how flexable the sidewalls are etc.

i have seen these tyres up close and liked them but i was unsure on how quickly they will wear down. what about the maxxis 771 or 700 ? same tyre but one comes from bobjane |

I ran Firestone Firehawks in 225/75R16. It's a very aggressive AT and was a very hard compound so lasted ages but after 75,000km got a bit slippery in the wet. I used to get wheelspin going thru roundabouts and skidded regularly when stopping quick in the wet. |

I've got 225/70/16 Dunlop Grandtreks AT3's on mine - I've found them to be good all round, especially in the wet and wear seems to be good so far. |

I'm pretty sure Grizzly Grips are made in china by Pinnacle. They're a copy of the Hankook rt03. I believe the company that makes Pinnacle Tyres is part of BCT, they make a "mud" tyre called a buckshot, but I'm not sure if it has anything to do with Maxxis. |

Dudes rather then starting a new thread I will ask here. I have a 2000 GV 4dr V6 with a Dobinsons 2" lift. Looking to get some mild A/T's (possibly maxis bravo 751) but which is the best size to get? Don't want any scrubbing etc as this is the Mrs' daily driver! The standard tyres are 235/60/16. 225/70/16 or 225/75/16 or 235/70/16?? The guy at tyrepower reckons to go with the 235/70's.... |

Go 225/75r16 rat, it's a similar size at 235/70s. Most people with GV's run that size. I didnt get any scrubbing with my 225/75s they were a semi agressive AT |

There are more offroad tread patterns available with the 225/75/16. 235/70 is more a on road tyre. |

Sweet thanks for the feedback guys. Will a 225/75/16 fit ok as a spare mounted on the rear still? What is the best way to sort out the speedo? The larger diameter doesn't make the GV too sluggish on road? Thanks!! |

225 fits on the spare wheel carrier perfectly. Speedo will be out a bit and the only ways to fix are 1. change diff ratios to suit or 2. change the signal from the speedo drive to the dash.... I say do the diffs. |

225/75s fit easy. I have my 265/70 sitting on there atm, just fits. With the speedo, i know you can get a jaycar kit that will correct it. But it's a lot of work. |

I use a GPS for Speedo correction... The 215/70/R16 I have fitted push the speedo out by 3k's.. GPS has been a life saver with the anal-ly tight speed camera's in Wollongong.. |
