Hey guys blake here from NZ, ive got a 94 tin top samurai running a g16b. I left the original radiator in it when i did the conversion because of funds available at the time. The radiator is pretty stuffed and now starting to reheat. What do alot of you guys with similar set up run? i like the idea of keeping the viscous van but am willing to compromise. Would like to hear different options and see photos of peoples setups. cheers Blake |

New standard 1.3 radiator and shroud with viscous fan. Never seem to give any issues even when under heavy load at slow speeds. Majority of the issues people have when doing this conversion is they throw in the old 1.3 radiator and swear its in top tip nick when it really is fairly blocked inside or the viscous clutch has lost its fluid. Then the 1.3 radiator is the first on the blame list for being inadequate. |

I agree with jrZook has he helped me install my G16B. After a complete rebuild, I have been driving for about 600kms now and with a new alloy 1.3 radiator and pipes, no problems as of yet. |

I just did my oil top up on the vicious hub and my temp currently floats between 80-90 degrees. I have no idea where that is on a normal dash temp gauge! That's 1.3 alloy rad, sierra shroud with cutdown vit fan! |

I'll second (third?) the comments above. The stock 1.3 radiator, in good condition, with a 1.3 shroud and Vitara viscous fan should cool the car with no problems under all conditions. Also,as far as I am aware, the EFI G16B runs hotter under normal conditions than a carby 1.3. IMHO this is deliberate, so don't be surprised if the needle sits a little higher than with a carby 1.3 - so long as it doesn't fluctuate higher again under load the cooling system is fine. Steve. |

I bought a custom designed radiator off this guy, http://www.alloyradiators.com.au/ really nice bloke, excellent workmanship, 3 times a standar, and about the same price as a new replacment 1.3l I have no affiliation, but recomend him highly. |

I payed $220 for a new copper Sierra radiator which funnily enough cools like a new one and took 10 min to swap out with the old one. |

Copper radiators also disapate heat more efficiently then a alloy. |

Shep, not disagreeing with you, but I have yet to see any data backing that claim up. All the big time radiator mobs now make ally as it is said that that is the preferred medium. |

Copper in itself is more efficient at thermal exchange than aluminium, however the design and construction of a radiator is more important at dictating how effective it will work. I'd be interested to know if there is any noticeable difference between two identical aluminium radiators if one was polished and the other is black. |
