As the title says is it possible to do a mini ruf with 3" lifted efs leaf springs using 2" extended shackles?
if so does the diff position move at all or does the leaf need to be redrilled to correct positioning? From what i have gathered from different topics is that there is no wheel base gained from doing a mini rub just more flex.

i havent been able to find these answers by myself but sorry if this has been covered before...
thanks guys :peaceout:

Depends on what your definition of a mini ruf is. An mini ruf often is just a set of carry springs or oem sierra rears, redrilling the perch back an inch or so.

The efs rear springs are pretty much the longest ones you can get. I dont think that redrilling the perches and longer shackles are going to cut it. Do a propper ruf, or perhaps put the efs ones I the rear and the oem ones in the front. ?

sorry i was meaning drill the rear perch, i should have included that. ok so does the mini ruf (drilling rear perch) only work with a stock sierra rear leaf or would i be able to use an old man emu 2" rear leaf and then use the efs 3" rear leaf in the back to level the car again? i know that there is talk on a thread about 323 and 808 model leaf springs but from my understanding you need to extend the rear of the chassis to fit one of those in the rear.... just trying to get my head around it all before i go gun ho at it and stuff it up  measure twice, cut once pompoms

Whats the length difference between stock and 3 inch efs rear springs?

I've found some measurements on different threads the stock rear measurement was 1050mm and i found that in the good tech page under "longer leafs" and under another thread "confirming my understanding of a ruf" says that the efs 3" leaves are 1040mm eye to eye so these measurements dont really add up. the only thing i can think of is if the measurements have been taken different e.g. stock rear is measured when it has been bent straight and the efs has been measured with out being straightened/compressed.
ive tried to get measurements of the efs site but havent come across any measurements.

I have got the correct measurements in my build thread somewhere. To measure a leaf correctly you have to measure from eye to eye along the main. This takes into account the camber. Stock main is roughly around1000mm IIRC and EFS is 1040mm.

Just incase someone is looking......I can verify that the new rear 2" lifter EFS springs are 970mm from centre of eye to eye
The rear HD 2" EFS leafs are 940mm
My sagged stock rear top leaf sprig was 970mm from centre of eye to eye
I measured them all up on Friday

but your measuring eye to eye, and not around the curve.
eye to eye length will change when you straighten the spring.
around the curve wont

I'm not an exspert but going off just what I read and the exsperiance from doing my RUF (Wich is not much .1 RUF = not much) I don't think u can just bolt up a EFS rear leaf spring into the front and just add 2" exstended shackles, but that said iv seen other people on here in there build threads use diffrent brands of l ifted springs (Wich vary in length) or springs out of carry vans and other cars ect.

And your diff will move foward about 27ish mm. Some people say that it doesn't affect anything apart from some minour rubbing, others would argue that it was unsafe (unsafe meaning -without further modafication to steering components and out riggers )u can redrill the hole further back to get the position for ur car.

What I said above may be argued and corrected Wich is fine :) there are a lot of people with different ideas hit the search button and have sqiz, but best bet is to look at peoples builds and see how there's have turned out and pm them and pick there brains.

Sorry for the rant hope it helps a little :)
