My front seats have finally died and are in need of replacement.
Can any one sugest a good replacement that will pretty much just bolt straight in? Dont want to spend a fortune either, just something that functions.

As far as I know the ONLY seats that will bolt straight in are Sierra seats.
If you want good seats at a budget price look for a pair out of a Holden Astra/Nissan Pulsar from the wreckers.
Good supportive, comfortable seats. Making them fit is just a matter of making up some brackets.
I used 50X6mm flat bar for mine* and got it mod plated easily. :D

* Mine aren't Pulsar/Astra though.

Suzuki Swift seats are a very close match. Mounting locations have the same width just slightly different length.

i have seen a sierra with repco seats in it that front bolt hole lined up and the back one just needed re drilling.
they were $400 for the pair, should be cheaper over your way.

Yes the seats they sell at repco are autotechnica plain black, no branding on it, rock hard and has a little autotechnica tag. All you need to drill is on extra hole in both the sierra rails! I was shocked!

These seats i was 'testing' my mates as i didnt know what seats to get..

So i ended up buying the same seats from autobarn...Big mistake...Seat all looks the same, But they were SAAS, all the holes are different!!! Argh!. Pain in the arse to fit to my rails..used 50x6 flatbar..

I put Suzuki Swift GTi (98)seats in mine.

Different mounts at the back.
Front mounts similar.

Very nice seats! Comfy and supportive.
I ended up putting the swift seat belts and belt latch in - because the latch is neatly bolted to the swift seats. Which may or may not have been a bad idea.
Because the swift seats are a little wider at the top, it can be quite hard to fish the belt out over your shoulder from the behind the seat back when you are sitting in the seats.

I fitted Autotechnica Monza Race seats to mine Drivers side needed the original seat rails cut out completely so it would mount at the same height as the passenger side. Passenger side just bolts straight through, Both fitted with 6mmx 50mm flat plate running across the car at the front and back.
Note: in order to make the seat slide better I ran Flat bar under the rails on the inside so the slides didn't bunch up on the carpet works great!

I got some Autotechnica bucket seats (P/N SP24BGS) - $200 super special from Repco! All I had to do was drill 2 new holes in the stock rails and they bolted straight in! (Adjustment levers are on the inside next to the handbrake, as they hit the pillar the other way round. It all works great!):

They are not the easiest thing to get in and out of due to the high sides, but once your in they are good. The padding is softening up a little now too which is good, as they were fairly firm when new.

Cheers,

Haha seems that everybody has the repco autotechnica seats. Got a seat during the 300 dollar special. Easy to fit.

How comfy are the autotechnica seats? Do they have a much lower sitting position?

Author:  pickle2589 [ Fri Sep 25, 2009 6:11 pm ]
Post subject:  Re: Seats

They're pretty hard as u would expect but not bad. The seating position is pretty much the same. They mount onto the existing rails fairly easily. All i did was swap the rails around ie left on the right and right on the left so that the lever to slide them is able to move. I also had to redrill the rears holes.

In terms of the passenger side I just had to redrill two holes and put a washer between the chair and the rails.

Very easy to do.
