Is it just me or is $490 for a 15000km jimny service a bit steep?

Depends on what they had to do? If its anything like the swift sport that would be one of the first scheduled ones after the fist check up and costs a bit more?

Paying Hedland prices? Nope, about right.

Just another reason I'm glad not to be up there anymore.

Find out exactly what they are doing.

What does your car manual say is required for a 15,000km service?

Seems all they are doing is fluids and checking over some things. When I arrived and looked at the service plan thing they wanted me to sign they added $80 to flush the engine between oil changes $50 to rotate the tyres $50 for an alignment and $40 to do a road brake test. So after telling them to stick their extras. This will be the last time I ever go back to that dealership. My own fault really for waiting to the last minute I guess.

Dan, my car is due for it's 15000km service/12month in April (I'm only at 6500 though). Can you private message me which dealer?
If it's my dealer I will take it to ultratune or something. That's a dumb amount of money for a road test and fluids change.

apart from a normal major service ( oil, filter and full check over ) the only extra thing they do on a 15k service is change your rear diff oil.
engine flush is rubbish and $$$ in their pocket, every 7.500 they should change your oil and fiter is recommended, no need to flush your engine, it's like 10 dollars a bottle so 80 bucks is a rip. rotate the wheel is what they should do anyway as they have the wheels off to check your brakes so to charge you extra for that is a joke. alignment is only needed when your tyres wear uneven. and 40 for a road brake test???? WTF! anything extra they do (if they actually do it) they should get your permission first!
i've worked at suzuki for nearly 8 years and these sort of practices are just telling me they raking in the $$$ and probably don't do half of what they tell you they did!
have it done elsewhere, the maintenance schedule is in your book and thats all you need done to it unless you want some extra's..

Thats what you call a rip off.

Unfortuanetly most people would pay it without question.

yep & it doesn't help when most stealerships offer incentives to the mechanics to "up-sell" stuff.

i know nissan have a nice scheme going to reward the techs for up selling stuff, eg brakes at 20-30% & they'll say they need to be replace & then the service advisor gives the whole "doom & gloom" story about safety the customer.

and to add to that, your warranty won't be void if it's done by a "qualified" mechanical workshop, so you can just go anywhere really.....as long as they stamp your book.

Ok list of what they did:
Replaced engine oil and filter
Checked: drive belts, cooling system, air cleaner element, all oil levels, steering and suspension components, front and rear brakes, park brake operation, all fuel lines and connections, all lights, wipers, tyre pressures, all fluid levels, air conditioning components.

They didn't replace the diff oils as stated in the service record book. I will be speaking with them tomorrow if they are open.

Is there some issue in publicly naming the dealership rather than sending a pm?

thats a rip job mate.
the last time my jimny saw the dealership was the drive out of there when i bought it.
they just charged you half a monkey to do a service you could have done yourself. and still kept warranty.
only technical jobs (valve timing, repairs etc) have to be done by a qualified mechanic to keep warranty.
i have serviced it at every 10 00km interval, including valve timing, dealerships are evil.

I service my bike myself. How different could one suzuki 1300cc engine be from another suzuki 1300cc engine hahaha
