Hey all, i have just bought a 2000 Jimny my first 4wd.

So far i have put an ARB bull bar
2"blupac shocks and ultima coils
nite stalker spotties
tough dog steering dampner
heavy duty clutch
and 215/75/R15 hankook MT RT03
This is where I have found my problem! I have found that the tyres are hitting my bull bar and wheel arches when ever my suspension is at 3/4 to full compression on the front and predominantly on the drivers side, but that could be due to the extra weight of the driver. i'm looking for a solution? i've stoped going off road due to the fact my new tyres are getting ruined.
I will try and upload the best photos of it i can. on an unrelated note, does anyone know how much weight the rear door can take?? (is there any problem with having the bigger spare than the stock tyre?)

Go back to stock rims. The wider rim with more offset is increasing scrub radius.

I'm not sure if that will fix the problem 100%, I'm no jimny expert, but I do think 215's normally clear better than that.

I have 215/75 hankook muddies on stock rim at stock height no rubbing at all.

Are they 15x7 rims? As Gwagen said, the offset is too large. The 215's should fit comfortably on the stock rims, otherwise a step up to a 6" would work

yer they are 15x7 with a -13 offset.
Would a body lift fix it and are there any dramas with body lifts

Seems a bit silly to lift the body 2", not to mention rework the bullbar mounts, to fix a rim choice problem.

If you want to step up in tyre size, consider a body lift and keep your 7" rims, but if you want to stay on 215's, drop back to stock rims or 6" rims.

I'm assuming you have standard panhards?
Not saying you need adjustables but this is why it's predominantly on the driver's side.
Also ARB bar is renowned for causing rubbing and most guys with an ARB bar trim it back. The straight flat lip offers less clearance than a stock bumper.

Guard chop would also help, I ran 235s on 15x7 with 2inch lift and it didn't scrub that bad

I have the Hankook 215/75 on 6" rims and had a slight rubbing on the drivers side rear guard but much less than in your picture. Replacing the Panhard rod and moving the front axle to the passengers side a little sorted that out pretty well. My tyres don't go anywhere near the ARB bar though and never did. I have my front end apart at the moment otherwise I would measure for you. I expect the extra rim width is the main issue but try replacing the front Panhard rod and see how that goes. It is a worthwhile upgrade anyway and may save you replacing your rims.

Maybe you could get a straight swap, from your rims to a set of OE jimny rims, a) to try, or b) swap outright.
I know a guy that can do the fitting on the cheap for ya...

The original Jimny rim is 15” x 5 ½” with +5 offset, 108.4 centre bore PCD 139.7. My replacement rims are from Dynamic and are Part number D1536 P51397B with 15" x 6" and +3 offset and 111 mm centre bore . They are a good size for the 215/75.

The stock Jimny rims are also fine for thje 215/75 tyres and are lighter. I only replaced mine so I could keep the stock tyres as well.

More lift :P

I'd suggest adjustable panhard, to centre with the taller stance.
Bumpstop extensions will limit the travel. Only downside of this is... they will limit the travel :O
But, your 'guard stop' is doing that for you anyhow. So do some flex ups, till it scrubs and measure your distance between bumpstop and spring base, add 10mm for rubber compression. Add another 10mm for clearance. This is what your sxtensions will need to be.

Other options as already stated is guard and bar chop, and/or body and bar lift.

Personally, I'd keep the rims with the wider offset. This gives more stability off road.
