Most of the time it's not a tune they need it's a new carby.. Otherwise any reputable mechanic should be able to tune a Sierra. |

If i go in for a carby rebuild and tune how much should i be paying? I know of the store in midland but i didnt know they did mechanical work there. |

I've heard of people paying anywhere from $350 to $550 for a carb rebuild. |

I recently got quote before I went efi. $500 will have you covered and that will include a tune. Don't bother going to a suzuki place for that. Go to a carby specialist |

Look into DIYing it. Carburetts arent the most complicated things to work on. Lots of little bits yes, but almsot all of them dont need serviceing except for a clean. especially on an OEM engine where you aernt trying to tune it with new jets, there isnt much you can do to "tune" it anyway. Clean it and set the idle. Generally a carby kit job is basically jsut a whole bunch of new gaskets and perishable rubber boots and things. The actual carburation of the fuel is done by steel bits in steel chambers, as long as its clean it does its job well. What you are paying for when you get someone to do a carby kit is the labour in pulling it appart, cleaning everything meticulously, and putting it back together with new gaskets. Which if you have a screw driver, a bucket of petrol, and a workshop manual you can do it at home on the kitchen bench. |

I got mine done 4 yrs ago by the Carby Exchange in OConner. They recommended stripping it back to a bare carby by taking all the non essential parts off, the same as what Shep did in the following thread.
