i have a coily dashed sierra with a g16b conversion, now the converson was done by me but the wiring was done by killa kustom... The problem i have is i have 3volts coming into the coil ive changed the ignitor and coil but still seem to have 3 volts still. I have put a few earth wires here and there thinking it was that but still the same, can anyone give me some guidence..

find where that power comes from, sounds like a poor power connection, corroded fuse or faulty relay

if you take the wire off the coil and test it, is it still 3v or does it read higher?

when i take it of the coil it reads nothing until i actually start kicking it over
here's the wires i used to connect up
black/yellow------------start kick wire
yellow------------vss
both white
black/red------battery +
black/white------- ignition +
purple/yellow----------- check engine
brown/blue-----------tacho
pink/black-----------fuel pump

so when you probe both sides of the 20 amp coil/meter fuse you are getting battery voltage ? you have wired something wrong , as you probably realise you should have voltage at coil with ignition on .. and not just while cranking.

how much money and time you going to spend on it before getting in an expert ? lol , i tell you what if i can stay sober long enough i might even come for a look. ive seen a wiring harness or 2 in my time , sometimes at night i have wiring harness nightmares..

he says the loom was done by killa kustom kables... he's got a pretty good rap for the electrical strings, but i guess its easy to stuff something like that

Maybe so but if the loom already had a fault in it, does he have a rig to bench test it? I wouldn't think so cause it would be a pretty complex bit of kit and well beyond the price he charges for the conversions

I reckon checking black/white is a good start

1 wire ! , the black with white that feeds ignition on power to the coil and ignitor was hooked into the wrong place in the ignition harness , it was weird , while i was doing the tests first minute i was getting battery voltage then i was getting 5.29 volts and then battery voltage etc so i traced the wire back to where it was wired in and then found the wire it had been wired into was also dropping to 1.5 volt while cranking , so redirected it to the original coil/meter wire and it was all sweet , 1 hour labour and his headaches were gone.

just to clarify also , i tested all the power wires to the ecu , i tested all the ecu earths , i also checked the cas circuit and ignitor circuit , also all main power feeds to the relays.

Ive had this on a sierra, weird voltages on the coil +, the harness connector near the glovebox was getting wet and corroded only the black/white coil power wire
