i have a 89 sierra with a 2 pin front diff and it has a lockright in it.
you need to use the lockright without coupler, which also happens to be the cheap lockright.
lockright with coupler for rear diff.
lockright without coupler for front diff.

Hey all, I need to find out wether a Richmond Lock-right can be fitted to the front diff of my 90' WT Sierra. Which has a 2 pinion diff (I would assume, have not had it out of the housing yet). I have looked through the install instructions, and on the internet and i cannot see how it would even be possible to fit one to a 2 pinion diff. To me it just looks like it wouldn't work. (ie. you need the 3 pinion pins for the locker gears to sit evenly) BUT, there are people who insist that a lock-right CAN be fitted to a 2 pinion diff. Can anyone confirm or bust this 'myth'? Not as far as I know. The carriers(hemispheres) are totally different. You need a 4 pinion. |

the steering is a bit heavy when the wheel is first turned but unlocks easy also nowhere near as noisy as the rear. the stearing on rock is still heaps lighter then a fj40 i built years ago that had open diffs.

shep: Did you fit it yourself? I have the 'without couplers' kit already. It has 2 spacer washers in the kit, which to me look impossible to fit without having a 4 pinion diff. How did you fit these? Mike |

if you put the diff center on a bench and have a look at it you will see that the locker is unable to go anywhere. while i didn't install the locker to my center(i couldn't be arsed measuring stuff) this fella did it for me. http://www.auszookers.com/index.php?nam ... rofile=596 and if you decide not to install the locker sell it cheap to lump_a_charcoal |

now i think of it, the locker was sold to me by locktup as fitting a wt front diff. why do people think that they don't fit when the retailer says that they do. is there a internet myth that they dont fit? |

sorry this is kinda on but off topic. i have a 96 leafy sierra that i have put a rear air locker in i have recently got some diffs that are spoa and have front and rearmechanical lockers. what im looking at doing is ptting my rear air in the front and having a mechanical in the rear, is it possible? the other thing is the new diffs have low ratio centres |

yes you can use the airlocker in the front but you'll need heavy axels as they have the same spines as rear axels it would probably be cheaper to go buy another airlocker for the front than to get cromolly axels |
