Just wondering best way to undo stripped filler plug on transfer case and its very tight or could I put oil in 4x4 stick hole I need help ASAP

fastest way is to weld a bolt to it. The heat helps unlock the thread, and gives you something to turn.

Otherwise, get a cold chisel and hammer and try to turn the plug. The shock loading can sometimes help free it up.

you can try semi lining up a slightly smaller socket (1mm size under or a close imperial size) and flog it on with a hammer and try that, or you can use a set of stilsons (adjustable pipe wrench) as that might be able to grip the roundness of it a bit better.

you and try grinding or filing a set of flats onto two sides and use those, or like old mate above mentioned weld another nut or piece of scrap to it and use that as leverage to turn it.

Using a hammer and chisel is fraught with risk.
I had to change an entire rear axle housing, just before a trip,
because I christovered it :(

Ok thanks it is a flush bolt that uses the socket driver to undo it so I need t work out how to attach something without ruining it as I just put the transfer case in and was trying ti fill it with oil is their any way I can fill it through the shifter whole or something

It's a 10mm square drive, they get flooded out buy people using 3/8th ratchets & breaker bars.

You can remove the shifter & fill it that way.

You can get a new plug from bunnings for about $1.70.
Just ask for a 1/2 inch bsp. Get the one with the slim 21mm flat head and you'll never have the problem again. :wink:

if you can get something with a lot sharper edges to it than a ratchet it will bite in a lot better

drilling a hole in it and sticking an easy out in also works really well if you have access to them, its not that they are tight its just hard to apply a lot of drive through them

buy a set of these... made by irwin tools. I undid my exhaust bolts with them. and they were a complete circle, no edges to speak of whatsoever.
cost about 40 bucks i think, handiest sockets i own.
