So I've just managed to get my hands on a fibreglass hard top for my SWB Vitara... outright swapped a dude for my softy... Now I'm thinking I want roof rack to mount some side facing spotties and to use as a rifle mount.

I get pretty much free access to steel from my brother-in-law but i'm just not sure on the best way to build it, I was thinking some 50x20 RHS across the top then angled down to match the angle of the B-piller, then welding the RHS to some flat bar with mounting holes and using something like nutserts or the like to mount.

Anyone with some experience that might be able to give a better option for either design or attachment, my biggest concern is it being to rigid and messing up the thin sheet metal it will be attached to when off-road. Any advice would be awesome!

No I'm more just looking at one single bar to go over the middle rather than a whole cage, just something I can mount two sidewards facing lights and when the rear section is removed I can use as a rifle rest when we are out shooting

In that pic Atari posted you can see where the front part of the rack attaches there is two screws on each side you should be able to use that to mount a rack uptop
