i need to replace the pinion seal in my rear diff (its a WT sierra not an austin A40) what is involved? do i have to get the seal from suzuki or will repco have one?

I got my last one from RIPCO but any bearing shop should have them.
Suzuki will have them too, or at least be able to get them.

just tried repco but they are shut already

whats involved in replacing it? i know i need a 27mm socket but thats all i can work out at the moment

you need to be able to set the bearing preload back properly

if you get the nut in teh exact same spot as it was youll probably bo OK with that for a while

You'll need a socket like you said.
Liberal doses of WD40 or similar.

A piece of angle iron about 70cm with 2 holes drilled and bolted to the pinion to stop it turning while you undo the nut.

A 2 or 3 jawed bearing puller of rather beefy dimensions is also handy. Those pinion flanges can be very determined to stay put!

would an axel puller be alright for getting the flange off? or does the bearing have to come out as well?

You only have to undo the nut and then remove the flange. the seal will pop out with a screwdriver.
What sort of puller do you use? got a pic? I'll put up a pic of mine if you want.
