Yeah carbies are a bit silly, but they are basic and that appeals to me for a few reasons..
I'm running stock carb but this thread made me consider the webber and it's merits/demerits.. Food for thought.. Cheers

They're super tunable, which is good, but it's also bad - you can keep fiddling with them forever convincing yourself your making your car betterer. There is no question you can make more power than with the stock carby though. They make cool noises. They'll flood/starve at some angle or another. I think you can set them up to run awesome when climbing, but not descending, that kind of thing. I recall someone claimed this wasn't an issue and then conceded that it just wasn't an issue on the angles they drive on. I have no experience with them personally. EFI is moar better. All carbies are the work of the devil in my opinion. |

Hmmm. Well if it's better than the stock one that keeps fcking up on me then I might go for it. I noticed that some have electric chokes. Apart from it being a legallity to have a choke (so I've been told) would this help combat the flooding on extreme angles? And how extreme are we talking? |

Im my opinion save the money you will spend on the weber, and get your stock one rebuilt properly. Yes you may get more power from a weber. but 99 percent of people pull them back out due to the issues with angles and hills. its been covered 1000 times on here |

I was considering taking the stock one that I have and rebuild it at home and replace it with a weber. Then I have a spare if I ever needed it (probably sit and collect dust). |

Mate i just got one. you have to get the modified one (the same mob make them) or else it will flood on slopes. they even make a custom carby cap for the new carb. Instant power increase and purs like a kitten. One of the best $600 i have spent. JUST MAKE SURE you get the modfied one! |

Iv got a Weber on mine and it seems fine but iv also got one back from recarb that has been moded, it has know got the vent in the middle of the bowl and a baffel over it as well.it wont be on mine for awhile because my current one is running ok

Ok I called back recarb today and asked about the modification. He says there's an offroad mod and a comp mod (if I remember correctly). It has already come with the offroad mod to help prevent against sloshing. The guy on the other end of the phone was really helpfull and didn't fill me with bullshit. Sounds like a pretty good team there. Hopefully I dont have to modify to much to fit this Carb. It did say bolt on and the guy on the phone stressed that it is just a bolt on. |

Yeah havent got the resources or time to do an efi conversion on the car. Become quiet attached to the vit to sell it and buy another one just for a few extra pony's. |

this is the last ill pipe in. Its not just $300sh for the Weber, unless you have extractors, your going to want them as well. I cant see the point in creating a bigger intake without the bigger output, and your carby needs to be tuned to this. So id be wondering if the weber is tuned to the standard exhaust or made for extractors; also while your at it, they need to be looked at again if you have a snorkel (which webers dont like). If you get a snorkel you will need a proper hat that will allow air to flow properly down the weber, more $$$. So its probably another $500ish on top. Now we're around the $800 mark + the hat for the snorkel and you still flood. they aint so cheap. |

I pointed it up some hills that my car simply couldn't get up because of traction and gradient and it didn't starve the engine or show any of the nightmares that I've been foretold. Best thing I have bought so far for the Vit. |

Sounds great. Our Vitara will probs mostly do beach work and a bit of play so the upgraded power would be great for soft sand. |
