This sounds like a stupid question, even to me  but I removed both the front and rear driveshafts, and i forgot to mark which way around they came out. the spline that allows it to expand and contract, do the shafts go back in with the male end facing the transfer and the female end facing the diff, or the other way around? hope that makes sense...

Slip joint towards the transfer I thought.

It shouldn't matter. If you want to be picky slip joint up, only to hold grease in the spline, the downfall is that it holds mud also.

Yep, doesn't matter. I usually run the slip joint end towards the diffs
