Hey ive got a set of sunraysia rims that came off a land cruiser 6 stud and looking to get them redrilled to fit a sierra . Does anyone know anywere around sydney that does them and any sort of price ? Maybe youve already done this before ? Let me know thanks |

Good luck. Re-drilling a sunraysia style rim requires a special kind of mouth breathing sociopath. For $60-70 a rim you can buy a new wheel that is actually safe to use on the roads. |

Like Fatzook says.......its dodgy to redrill sunnies, and its not much more to buy new rims anyway- so save killing yourself/ someone else and buy new rims, or a good second hand set. Often see rims being sold here at damn good prices by forum members. The crew here dont mind advising the best size and offset to suit what you need. [wrong offset can ruin wheel bearings or foul on suspension] Stephen |

Still haven't provided a decent answer as to why re drilling it is dodgy. Negating costs of a new wheel (which i agree you would just buy the right ones) But WHY is it dodgy? I would have thought of all the wheels sunraisers would be a perfect candidate for re drilling, as they are made of thick steel, and you can weld up the old holes. (by weld up i mean, you do it properly then balance the wheel, you don't get out your mig in the backyard) |

Think peoples main concern is unseen stress fractures from the welding process.......and being able to correctly mark/drill the stud holes... Yes it can and has been done before....but if you need to ask who can do it and how much.....just get new rims, it will be cheaper. I have seen plenty rims welded and holes redrilled without problems......mainly road rollers when the nuts vibrate loose and operators fail to notice till the wheel falls off...they arn't exactually a cheap sunny tho.. |

By the time you lay down the extra 5 holes and drill in the tapers for the wheel nuts, some of the holes will undoubtedly be so close to others, that the chance of the steel fatiguing between holes will be very high. The centre bore may also be alot larger on the 6 stud wheels, adding more load to the studs when fitted to a hub with a smaller locating spigot. SOME wheels lend themselves quite well to re-drilling, but sunraysia style wheels (chances are they are chinese made ones) do not. |
