Hi All :)

I just installed locker in my rear diff ...

But I was not sure if the original thrust washer and shims to sidegears still should be in the diff?

I've always left them in, in my sierra centres.

without them there may be extra play when you accel/back off and it can cause faster wear to the internal components.

I took them out, as per the manual. It was pretty much perfect, quiet as and you don't feel it unlocking.

That was in a 1l/LJ diff.

My manual don't say anything about the shims... But it says I should place the Thrust Washer?? Is this the thin "Belleville" (Cone washer)?? Or is the Thrust Washer the flat shims??

Just follow the instructions that came with the locker. Lockright says to keep the shims, Spartin says ditch them...
