Hay guys, just won't to no if all the 5 speed gear boxes out of the efi 1.6L vitara are the same? I've got a 94 model lwb vit that I'm changeling the gear box in and I have got one out of a 95 model swb to go in it but both boxes have different stamps on them ? Like one has M1 and the other has m5 stamped on the sides? Also the newer box has 4 different plugs that the wires plug into and my old one only has 2 plugs that the wires were plugged into, how ever there are the plugs built into my original wiring harness for the plugs on the new box to be able to all plug in but I'm wondering what the 2 extra plugs are for?
Cheers scott

There were some differences over the years. Put it into fifth, turn the input shaft and count how many times the output shaft turns, also check the number of splines on the output.

Over here the 16V has a taller ratio than the 8V but I've no idea what may have been fitted on the JDM models. 8V = 0.85 16V = 0.8
Its not a big difference but if you have an 8V running taller tyres then you will notice it.
