HI GUYS i have a 99 grand vitara i have a problem when im in 4wd and really start to work the car in soft sand it slips out of 4wd there is no noise coming from the transfer case it is easy to slip into 4wd and out of 4wd if i hold my hand against the gear stick it will stay in 4wd just wondering if the spring or balls on the selector fork might be worn would be greatful if someone has any ideas

Yes, it's possible the spring pushing on the detent ball has worn or broken. I've seen it happen on trucks and the same thing happens, just falls out of gear.

cheers mate i might try new springs first before pulling out transfer case
