Hey guys, i am undecided with what choice to make with my rear diff... Should I minispool it? Is there any major disadvantages of this? Or should i just get an autolocker? What are disadvantages of this? Is it worth just getting the minispool as it is a lot cheaper? |

IMO a minispool is the better option. Both auto and spool will make the tires squeel on road, and wear them down quicker, but the spool won't unload mid corner like an auto locker. |

minispool = trail tough After having an auto locker (lockright) in the rear of my swb sierra for 70,000 km I didnt hesitate to put another in my new diff And I am putting an autolocker (spartan) in my front diff too. Set it up right. In my opinion, it's more about driver discipline to make it not be a PITA. Even being lazy, bar a few little things here and there, its totally fine. I would not put a minispool in a DD |

Whilst I agree that I wouldn't really recommend a mini spool for a daily driver, I wouldn't recommend an auto locker either. Both have effects on the vehicles handling. I'd daily a mini spool before an auto locker, but tyre wear might become a factor depending on budget/# of kms driven on road - Mini spools wear tyres more quickly. I would not recommend getting a mini spool from lowrange offroad. They sell "trail gear" spools. From what I have seen these are low quality and are either made from poor material or poorly heat treated. I have a Trail Tough mini spool and It has been in my car for some years. It has survived broken and twisted axles and is still in excellent condition. Same goes for another one in the club that has had two axles break. Spool is perfect. Trail gear spools have a reputation for wearing out at the splines. (they seem to be too soft) Steve. |

its a choice thing, no is going to tell you to buy or not buy some thing. i personally wouldnt have a spool or any locker other than an airlocker but its your car and your call |

You've really received all the advice you're likely to. The decision will ultimately rest with you. Neither mini spools or auto lockers are ideal for a daily driver in many people's opinions. I REALLY dislike the feel of an auto locker on road. Others really dislike the feel of a welded/spool on road. Steve. |
