Ok so I searched and the search enigine ignores "vitara" "jimny" etc so I get every "auto" thread , lockers included . Has anyone swaped a vitara auto into a jimny ? Can someone point me to any threads on it . I am about to build up a 413 flatdeck with a the usual 1.6 and auto but just going to run through the idea of building up the jimny instead as they are a bit newer etc . looking for a medium tourer in the end so I thnk a jimny , with mods , could handle it . i must have an auto and all the talk is the jimny one is not the best . Cheers Chris |

I haven't done it, and dont know of one being done. But it sure seems like something worth trying, as the rewards are there to justify the effort. If anyone has looked, I'd expect Joeblow to have investigated it. I would envisage the install being similar as to say putting one into a sierra. Except its probably going to be 2-3 the work, as there arent any kits to help (that I know of) |

Back in the mid 2000's I put one in mine along with the G16 block. You need to cut and make a new gearbox crossmember and modify the jackshaft. From what I can recall there is no tunnel stretching. If you can grab a t bar from an auto Jimny you could make it look stock. The auto ECU can be piggy backed off the engine ECU. The overdrive and power lights are already in the dash. |
