When I accelerate everything is normal but when i take my foot off the gas and let it deaccelerate naturally (engine braking) it makes a loud clicking whirring noise form the gearbox area until i put the gas back on or push the clutch pedal in. Anybody had this problem? It went away for around 2 months but it's back again. |

Good chance its clutch thrust bearing. Gets mud in it, which slowly kills them |

uni joints can do similar worn or broken transfer ans/or engine mounts. |

the ends of my shoelaces some times rattle when i de-accelerate. i'd be checking ALL uni joints, particularly the rear 2 & the 2 on the jack shaft. |

Thanks guys, I suspected uni joints as well but them seem fine, anything in particular I should be looking for when checking them? There is very little free play in them and they don't feel stiff to move around either. Replaced my engine mounts a few weeks ago. Any way of checking or any other indicatiors it's the clutch bearing without talking the box off? |

remove the tail & jack shafts & physically check the movement in the uni joints & to see if they're notchy at all. |

Unis can sieze on one axis, without it being obvious. If this is the case, one axis will get very hot, enough to say ouch. Or removing shafts and turning unis it will be obvious if seized. |

Just an update, One of the UJ's on the gearbox to transfer box was a bit stiff, changed it and now it's all good. Thanks guys. |
