Hi everyone awesome site! I've been back and forth to this site for numerous tech tips and have found this site to be the most informative as I attempt to install an EFI F10a engine and 5spd transmission into my 1979 LJ80. The issue I have is the exhaust manifold on the f8a has a 90 degree angle straight down and the f10a exhaust manifold will come in contact with both the master cylinder and the steering column (left hand drive) Does anyone here know if I can reuse the F8a manifold on the f10a engine without modifications? Thanks in advance, Jim |

EFI F10a.... More details on this please. Is it something that's readily available where you are, or is it going to be a custom setup? In answer to your question I believe you will be able to use your F8a exhaust manifold. One of the LJ nuts will be along shortly to confirm. |

I assume you are using an F10a from a Carry Van? Carrys have an exhaust manifold that points backwards instead of down like LJ and 1l Sierras. The F8a manifold will bolt strait on. mrw82, EFI F10as can be found Alibaba and sites like that. A guy on another forum imported a brand new one complete with a new gearbox (5 speed) and everything needed to just drop it in and run it, it was a Carry motor and box so you'd have to change pretty much everything though. Cost him $1300 delivered IIRC. |

That's exactly what I did. I imported it straight from China $1250.00 took almost a year to get it but it finaly came aperently it made a stop in Australia. (thats how I discovered this site) From what information I have... not many Lj's were imported to north america due to the short wheel base and licensing in the US. that made finding parts almost impossable I had to get a machine shop to rebuild the starter he had never seen anything like it and couldn't find a replacement. I knew it was rare for Canada and would be a challange but when I saw it parked in that its tiny garden shed I had to own it. I changed all the fluids dropped in a battery and starter and she burped out a blue cloud... top speed was 50km/h in 4th reving 4000rpm so I knew I needed to rebuild or replace the engine I cant even find the paint code in the autobody shop manuals that will have be a custon order too I guess thanks for your help |
