hey guys, went for a drive around mt dissapointment (victoria) and i heard a loud noisy bang noise and then the front wheels dont spin, however i can still select 4wd high and low, and 4wd low still engages and works, just the front two wheels arent spinning and the hubs are locked. What could be the cause? I dont want to spend all day looking at the car and not pin pointing the problem. should i be looking at -hubs -transfer case -gearbox -driveshafts -opening up the diff |

Did it go noisy bang noise when your front wheels were spinning? Any other noises whilst moving ind 4wd? Being a vitara, the probability of it being the alloy front diff is high. |

I was trying to climb up this hill and then when bang, and it popped out of 4wd L and then I put it back in, awhile I realised I wasn't in 4x4.. But can still select the gears |

As above, I would suspect the front diff then CVs Did you end up welding the front diff or putting a locker in it? Did you put a locker in the rear yet? http://auszookers.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=37&t=40307 |

Figured and fixed the problem. It was the front left wheel hub bearing, causing play in the hub, and the drive shaft circlip slipped out of the grove and the driveshaft was just spinning outside the hub. |
