Has anyone attempted to modify (chop) a bullbar for a different car to fit onto a Vitara ? I'm thinking that at $1200 for a pretty agricultural ARB bar, is a lot compared to say a Roo Systems, or Tigerz11 delux bar that are about half the price .. Prob being these guys only make bars for the most common 4bs .. The Vit is pretty simple in that it’s straight in the front, width would be easy, its all the angles that would need to be made ..?? |

Who was it that cut and shut a Patrol(?) one to fit the front of their Suzuki a few years back? I have vague recollections of a thread from another forum |

I'm in the process of making a bar off an old Hilux fit, can't remember the exact year model tho. Its almost spot on for width, but the mounting points are too close together so will cut and re-weld them. Sorry I can't remember how to use the img tag but have attached it if it helps. that bar is too flat for the front of the vitara, the wings need to taper back more so it's less slab looking. |

Thanks Atari, I was thinking that as well. Was going to cut a wedge shape out of the wings, to allow me to fold the wings back more. May also do the same but closer to the hoop so there is less of a slab front to it. Will also allow the winch to fit behind it nicer |

Did a lot of research yesterday and this is what I found: A bar that is almost perfect in every width, shape, size is from the Landcruiser 75/79 series. Hoops are in the wrong place, so would need to be cut off and fabricated or just left off. Ironman bullbars are as this as paper and more expensive than ARB - and not made here . Roo Systems and Tigerz11 have 75 series delux bars for $888, with driving lights. But need a lot of cutting as the hoops and uprights are thick .. great bar though. ARB have Vit bars in stock in Melbourne but quoted 2 weeks for delivery to Bris and would not move on this - would not even let me pay for a courier... I can get stuff from the east cost of the USA in 2 days ! I am really over ARB - The guy also tries to tell me the 92 SWB Vitara Softtop was available in a 3L V6 ! - he was right, I was just a stupid customer ( I want that car!) So here is what I am going to do ..... Put on the standard bumper, and polish up my nuge bar .. the bull bar can wait ... |
