G'day,

I have recently got hold of a 1990 vitara JX, This vit has mainly been used as a city car but im intending using it for what they are made for as well as a town car. Anyway im wanting to put a lift kit and body lift to it and obviously bigger wheels. AS im new to the suzuki i need to be pointed in the right direction, any info on brands, size of lift and wheels would be much appreciated. CHEERS!

What is it.... LWB or SWB?
Most people run at least 235/75/15 tyres, but I run 215/75/15 Muddies as I wanted to keep a bit of torque/power. These tyres do that + give me great traction as well.

Re Lift: Most people do a combination of Springs/shocks/spacers to give you a lift of anywhere up to 50>70mm. Then you can look at Bodylift for which Just Cruizin on this site is the best source.....

I'm sure u will get plenty of differing opinions.... all the best!!

Well, it all depends on what you want to do with the car. If you want to do some light offroading then put something like a dobinson lift in it. They have longer travel struts to suit too. With the standard rear A-arm I'd go with either dobinson rear shocks or OME (everyone has their opinions). That setup should allow you some off road capability, and the ability to run some bigger tyres.

The problem with going any higher than that is when you lift an IFS vehicle, you will lose droop. Droop is good, no droop is bad. Independent suspension has a limited range of travel due to the CVs. The only way to get around this is to lower the diff. Then you start getting in to some moolah and end up with kits like the Calmini one, or by using parts from Outdoor auto or bits4vits.

It all depends what you want to do with the car! I've gone with the full 3" calmini suspension kit with a 2" BL from justcruizin (good kits, much better than the calmini ones). I'm running 31" muddies no dramas. If you drive it like its a road car you'll flip it but if you give it some respect its perfectly ok for every day use.
